To install the packages system, you need only three commands, which are conveniently provided as a single Unix-style command so you can just walk away until it's all completed:

cd /usr && ftp -a ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/current/pkgsrc.tar.gz && tar zxvpf pkgsrc.tar.gz -C /usr

You may wish to keep an additional copy of this pkgsrc.tar.gz file on your client machine, along with all the other downloads (optional).
